Canada: savings and GICs
The top of the YourBestSavings Canada rankings: 1,812 rates from 151 Canadian banks and credit unions. Rates are posted annual interest rates in Canadian dollars. Savings accounts are ranked by their 12-month effective rate at a $10,000 deposit, so a short promotion is blended with the rate after it ends; GICs are non-redeemable and open to a regular (non-registered) deposit.

Counts include corrections made when we re-verified a rate on the institution’s site, so they show how many published rates changed in our data, not how many institutions announced a change. Every change is listed on the rate history page, and the monthly ByTheMath rate studies summarize them.
How this page is built
Each section repeats the top of a live ranking on a YourBest site, in that ranking’s own order: deposit accounts by their ByTheMath score (rate, minimums, access and conditions weighed together), personal loans by YourBestLoanRates’ overall score, and card bonuses by estimated bonus value, with the lower annual fee first on a tie. That is why the #1 pick is not always the highest number in its section. Business accounts, rates with conditions or balance caps, and accounts with limited eligibility are flagged because the full rankings include them.
The Canada section ranks Canadian products on their own, by YourBestSavings’ Canadian method; every other section is US products only, and the movers count covers US products. Rates come from each institution’s own website and carry the date they were last verified. Nobody pays to appear here, and YourBests.com has no ads or paid links. How each site scores is summarized on our methodology page, with full detail in the ByTheMath methodology. Rates change often, so confirm the current rate with the institution before you open an account.
