How the YourBest network ranks products

By YourBest Editorial Team

Every site in the network follows the same principles. The details (which inputs count and how much) differ by product type, so each site publishes its own methodology, linked below.

1. Data comes from the institution

Rates, fees, minimums, terms and eligibility rules are taken from the bank, credit union, card issuer or lender’s own website and disclosures. Each product records when it was last confirmed there, and pages show that date. If an institution does not publish a figure, we show none rather than a third-party estimate.

2. It is verified every day

An automated scanner checks tracked source pages every day. A detected change is flagged, and a person on the team reviews it against the institution’s site before it is published; a scanner flag alone never changes a published number. Records that go too long without re-confirmation are flagged as stale and re-checked. Every change is logged with a timestamp.

3. Products are ranked by score

Each product gets a score computed from verifiable inputs for its category, such as APY, fees and minimum deposit for savings, APR and fees for loans, or earn rates and annual-fee value for cards. Pages list products in score order, and rankings rebuild when a rate changes. Where a page has no score, it uses a plain factual sort and says which.

4. Money never moves a ranking

No institution can pay to be included, left out or ranked higher. Some sites show ads or earn a commission from some links; compensation is not an input to any score, and affiliate status never changes the order. Paid links are labelled on the page. See the disclosure.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email contact@bythemath.com with the page address and, if you can, a link to the institution’s page. We verify, correct and log confirmed errors. Read the corrections policy, or learn about the editorial team and the network.
